Emily Ratajkowski Biography

Emily Ratajkowski shot to fame in 2013 after the model and actress featured in the video for the biggest song of the year, Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. Most of Emily’s career though has been about modeling and she has progressed from retail photoshoots thru arthouse erotica to high fashion and has been the cover girl for a number of high profile magazines including Cosmopolitan, FHM, and GQ.

An only child, Emily O’Hara Ratajkowski was born in Westminster, London on 7 June 1991 to American parents. She moved to San Diego with her parents when she was five years old. Her father, John David Ratajkowski is a painter and art teacher of Polish / Irish descent. Her mother, Kathleen Balgley is a writer and Professor of English.

Emily grew up in a small oceanside house in a place called Encinitas which is in the county of San Diego, California. The magic of the sea couldn’t keep her there though and during her youth she traveled all over Europe, spending a lot of time in Cork, Ireland as well as on the island of Majorca in the Mediterranean. Growing up she never watched television and tried her hand at ballet, football and acting before settling on becoming a full-time model. Her father’s work as an artist conditioned her when she was young to accept the naked body and she credits this for her comfort when appearing nude or semi-nude in various photo shoots.

Her rise to fame began with a nude cover shoot in 2012 for the March issue of Treats magazine as it is this photograph that led to her getting the part in the Blurred Lines video. Although her first love is modeling, due to her experience on the Blurred Lines video, Emily became interested in acting and has appeared in a few movies, including most notably as the character of Andie Fitzgerald in 2014’s critically acclaimed Gone Girl alongside Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Emily has also appeared in several television series, including as Agent Day in the mini-series The Spoils Before Dying and as herself in a TV series short called Love Advent.

In that same year as Gone Girl, Emily Ratajkowski came 4th in FHM’s Top 100 sexiest women and she appeared topless on the cover and in a photo spread inside the July edition of American GQ magazine. She was also the cover girl for the November issue of Cosmopolitan and was featured on the cover of February 2015’s FHM although she said this was without her consent.

Recently Emily has appeared in three new movies which are slated for release in 2017 and 2018. These are In Darkness, Cruise and Welcome Home.
